Actually, he seemed quite absorbed in it all and sat bolt upright in Act III when Banquo’s extremely bloody ghost arrived, via a clanking freight elevator, and leaped onto the banquet table with a thud to bring the first half to an electrifying close. Luca was reading the play in school, but my husband, Joe, and I weren’t entirely sure he was ready to endure several hours of Elizabethan verse in a theater. Our foray into Elizabethan drama began when we tentatively took our 12-year-old son to see Patrick Stewart in Macbeth. Shakespeare, however, has been our most frequent date. Here in New York, my family has seen a lot of classic theater in the past three years-Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg, with a dash of Molière on the side. ![]()

I’m on a trip with my kids, so I was forced to read this in 5 minute increments, but I found myself aching to get back to it! Who knew space travel and tiny particles of alien life could be so interesting? Apparently millions of people because the book has rocketed to the top of all the notable best seller lists. Good news: I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book. Additionally, I really enjoyed “The Martian,” (movie) based on book of the same name, also by Andy Weir. I picked it up because of all the surrounding hype. It’s sci-fi space realism with a dash of humor. Y’all, this book was so far out of my reading comfort zone…like totally opposite of something I’d normally read. ![]() |
